In 1983 Timex sold a revamped ZX81 with 16 kB RAM, called TS1500. If i can trust the image sent from TTL, it was still produced in 1986.
The TS1500 had rubber keys and looked overall similar to a ZX Spectrum, though it was still a ZX81 clone. It was meant to bridge sales between the dropping ZX81 and the not yet available ZX Spectrum clone, but didn't sell much, because it technically was still a ZX81 and thus outdated. Therefore all ZX81 peripherals could be attached.
Timex actually planned to sale a relabled ZX Spectrum clone as "TS2000", but dropped that idea in favour of developing an improved version of the ZX Spectrum, named TS2068 and bridging the time with the TS1500.
