Czerweny Electronica, Argentina

summary of www.microhobby.com

TADEO CZERWENY S.A. was founded in 1958 is an Argentinian manufacturer of transformers and other high-power electrical equipment. in the early '80s they started the new business field of micro computers in their plant in Parana.

Czerweny Electronica models

Czerweny Electronica started with 3 clones, imported and relabled or only assembled in Argentina, which also looked very similar to their originals.

CZ 1000

This is just a relabled Timex Sinclair 1000, later specimen of the CZ 1000 were also "made in Portugal".

CZ 1500

Same situation here, except that it is a relabled Timex Sinclair 1500.

CZ 2000

Optically this is not an identical copy of the Sinclair ZX Spectrum. It uses a black version of the CZ 1500 resp. TS1500 case, 'modded' with the typical Spectrum rainbow in the right-hand corner. Internally it's an original issue 4 or later issue 6a ZX Spectrum PCB, built by Timex in Portugal.

CZ 1000plus

The above relabled clones were quickly replaced by successors in an own-style case assembled in Argentina. Their cases seemed to be identical in dimensions and had rubber keyboards with the ZX Spectrum dimensions.

The CZ 1000plus is internally still a TS1000, with 2 kB of RAM (i don't know why this is mentioned extra on microhobby.com, the TS1000 also had 2 kB of RAM), two standard joystick ports, a monitor output in addition to the channel 12 TV VHF (??) output, and a reset button.

Today, the CZ 1000plus is very rare.

CZ 1500plus

Same goes here for the TS1500 clone, which like the original had 16 kB of RAM. (again mentioned extra on microhobby.com.) Like the CZ 1000plus it came with two standard joystick ports, an additional video output and a reset button.

Today the CZ 1500plus is extremely rare.

CZ Spectrum

This is the successor of the CZ 2000, like the above 'plus' versions with two standard joystick ports, TV and video output and a reset button. Most were issue 6.

CZ Spectrum plus

This is just the same move as with the Sinclair ZX Spectrum: Same computer, new black plastic keyboard instead of the rubber mat. The base case is still the same as for the three computers above, thus it is slightly shorter than the original Sinclair ZX Spectrum+.

The BASIC errors and messages were translated into Castilian (Spanish).

also very rare

Joysticks

Czerweny also sold 2 joysticks:

So we can conclude, that the CZ 1000/1500plus joystick ports were different from the CZ Spectrum port.

Compatibility

As Czerweny used genuine Sinclair chips and ROMs, the compatibility of their models was 100% to their respective originals. This is different for Microdigitals TK series.
