Unipolbrit Komputer 2086 (Unipolbrit, Unimor Gdańsk, Poland)

Starting 1986, a version of the Timex Computer 2068 was manufactured by Unipolbrit in Poland.

Unipolbrit was a joint venture in Unimor Gdańsk, Poland. The name Unipolbrit is a mixture of UNImor, POLand and BRITain.

The "2086" is not a misspelled 2068. There are two interpretations for the swapped digits. First: It's a marketing trick to make customers think about PC x86 speed and quality, which is probably not true because PCs weren't much popular in Poland when Unipolbrit started. The second interpretation is the production start year - 1986.

There are some modifications to original Timex Computer 2068, which was a modified Timex Sinclair 2068. All of these aren't much compatible with Spectrum.

In Poland, they removed the right joystick port and replaced it with a parallel port for better printer support. They also removed the speaker and added monitor AV output with a standard eastern DIN plug. Using the monitor's speaker instead of the in-case beeper for good AY sound was a good idea.

Unipolbrit was incompatible with Spectrum only at the ROM level. To make it 99% compatible, the computer was bundled with an "Emulator ZX Spectrum" cartridge, made by S.P.M. Spektrum.
