After the (not released) TK80, the TK82 and the TK83, the TK85 was the last ZX81 compatible machine produced by Microdigital. It was produced in 1982 to 1983.
Although it looks very much like a Spectrum, the TK85 is more a copy of the ZX81-based TS1500. Internally it looks quite different, because Microdigital did not license Sinclair's ULA chip but built all circuits with standard TTL ICs.
The TK85 has a built-in joystick port, an optional 3-voice sound generator (probably an AY chip), 10 K of Rom, thereof a 8K Rom with the ZX81 Basic and a 2K Rom with additional routines for string handling, graphics, to handle the joystick, sound and a very fast tape loading routine, and 16 K Ram.
The machine was quite popular. The extension connector was the same as the ZX81's, so all ZX80/81 peripherals could be attached.
