There was a rare ZX80 clone named 'MicroAce' in the U.S.A., which was unlicensed and had to be withdrawn after the company got sued by Sinclair. [interface1.net] Eventually it was licensed later, at least the AD below says it was licensed by Sinclair Research Ltd..
I found a newspaper advertisement at www.8bit-museum.de which advertises the MicroAce as kit or complete with 1 or 2 kB of RAM.
The MicroAce was reviewed in BYTE in the article "The MicroAce Computer" by Delmar Searls, April 1981. Thanks a lot to Mark D. Overholser who supplied me with the scanned document of this article below!
In a TS1000 review in the January 1983 issue of BYTE this corporation was also mentioned as manufacturer and distributer of a 'flicker-free board' for the ZX80 with 7 TTL ICs, which presumably added the ZX81's NMI circuitry to this computer.
