Most demos use [Q], [A], [O], [P] and [Space] for directional control and select or keys [1] to [0] for direct selection.

You must connect a Kempston interface, or you cannot control the mouse pointer. The demo (at least, this snapshot) reads both, Kempston joystick port and Sinclair Interface 2 joystick port 1, and mixes them together. If no Kempston interface is attached, then it reades permanently all buttons pressed and you cannot control the mouse pointer.
